Doctor's Office

We set up our dramatic play room to look like a doctor's office with a waiting room outside.  Our literacy objectives for this activity were that children would "read and recognize their own names, and classmates' names on sign-in sheets, pretend to read environmental print such as magazines, and attempt to write using alphabet letters when writing prescriptions and writing diagnoses on clipboards." (Literacy Play pg 26). Everything was about reading and writing.  The kids did such a good job role playing and I was so impressed by how well they did with their first dramatic play task/activity of the year.  (Plus they were just so darn cute in their little doctor outfits!)
